The Men’s and Women’s Cross Country team ran in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional meet in Memphis, Tenn. this last weekend. The meet was held at Rhodes College where about 25 teams and over 240 runners competed.
The Men’s team tied in 14th place on a wet and muddy course.
“On Saturday, it was cold and raining and the course was pretty slippery,” said Finn Pincus, head coach.
However, the team finished well, led by Andrew Bernstein ’14 who finished just 10 seconds off his season-best with a time of 27:06. Bernstein took 52nd place.
Drew Nichols ’13 ran a 27:17 in 60th ahead of Austin Grubb with a time of 27:26 who placed 72nd. Behind them finished Drew Landgren ’14 with a 27:49. All three of these men ran their season-best.
In 71st with a time of 27:25, Josh Metz ’11 finished within 10 seconds of his season-best as well.
“As a team the women were 17th and I was hoping for a top tenfinish, since we have finished in the top ten the past nine years in a row,” Pincus said.
The girls still ran a good race despite the conditions. Maggie Moore ’11 led, as usual, with a time of 23:36. Moore took 37th place in her last collegiate meet.
Behind her were Emily Reichenbach ’13 in 57th place and Lauren Kennedy ’14 in 70th. The girls had times about 25 seconds apart finishing 24:22 and 24:47 respectively.
