How physically fit do you think you are? Do you think you are mentally tough? If so try the Tough Mudder Race.
This race is the Grammy Award compared to all others. It is a challenging obstacle course, that not only consists of running but many other difficulties. The race is 12 miles total and the usual time to complete it is three hours. Every year thousands of people from all over the country compete in this arduous race.
Here’s the catch. It is not a matter of whether you can finish it in a certain amount of time but if you can even finish at all. It is a team-work experience.
Obstacles range from running up a quarter pipe to running through hay soaked in kerosene. This race is definitely not for the weak of heart. Not only do the competitors have to have endurance but stamina to complete this race. The organization donates all of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project.
This charity helps provide  much needed respite retreats for devoted caregivers, and will also fund WWP combat stress recovery programs, adaptive sports, benefits counseling, education and employment services and other programs that aid in the healing of the mind, body and spirit of these brave Americans. The next race is being held in Virginia in October of 2012 at the Winter Green Resort. Anyone can compete in this race; it is all mind over matter. Michelle Graham 14′ says,
“It sounds ridiculous. It seems like you would get more wounded than the people who were trying to help you.”
There is much controversy surrounding the premise of the race, and whether this feat can be detrimental to one’s life, but that risk does not stop many, since racers come from all over just at a chance to say they will finish this race.
