Wednesday night, the men’s basketball team won a nail biter, as they defeated Randolph College 62-59 for their first conference win of the season.

The Maroons had a 13 point lead midway through the second half, but saw it dwindle away as the night went on. After several lead changes down the stretch, the Maroons were able to put the final dagger in the side of the Wildcats as junior Julian Ramirez made a layup to give RC a 5 point lead and just a few seconds left on the clock.

Randolph was unable to counter after missing one 3 and having another blocked by senior Adam Kessler as time expired.  The blocked shot was Kessler’s third, and most decisive, of the night.

Kwasi Amposah ’13 and Logan Singleton ’12 led the Maroons in scoring with 12 points each while Jack Hamilton ’14 helped with ten points along with six assists.  The team as a whole had a season-high 14 steals.

The game ended a four-game losing streak by the Maroons, and gave the team their first ODAC win in seven tries this season.

The team will take their 5-11 record up against Bridgewater College Saturday at home.  A win would give the men’s basketball program 1,300 wins in school history.  There are only 20 other Division III schools to hold that honor.
