Wednesday night the Men’s lacrosse team won against Randolph College, 16-7. This was their first ODAC game of the season. The men’s LAX now has a 5-3 record, 1-0 in conference. With this game the Maroons continued their winning streak against the Randolph College Wildcats; they have won all 5 games the two teams have ever played against each other.
Roanoke took the lead in the game with the first score by Will Pilat (#25).Â James Fisher (#20), Tyler McWilliams (#11), and Wes Pancoast (#26) also scored in the first quarter. The Maroons set the tone for the game in the first quarter, 4-0, not letting the Wildcats score once.
At the start of the second quarter Randolph got its first goal by Colton Wood. The Maroons quickly answered with a goal by Colin Rossano (#42). Immediately from the face off, McWilliams scored his second goal. Clark Lewis (#27) scored another goal for Roanoke. Randolph managed to get another goal by Andrew Risse. At the end of the half,, after a failed Randolph attempt to score, McWilliams ran the field and pounded the ball past the goal keeper for a goal. The Maroons went into the half with a lead of 8-2.
In the beginning of the third quarter, Kevin Jackson (#15) got his first goal of the night, and McWilliams got his fourth. Randolph managed to get two goals in the quarter, only to be answered by two Roanoke goals from Pilat and McWilliams. At the end of the third, the Maroons were leading 12-4.
Randolph started off the fourth quarter strong scoring three unanswered points. The Maroons then dominated with four players, Joey Dishaw (#5), Rossano, Joseph King (#18), and Cameron Linsley (#9), each scoring a goal. Randolph scored one more goal at the end of the fourth but Roanoke won the game 16-7.
Roanoke’s next game is the 22nd in Virginia Beach against Virginia Weseleyan.
