Roanoke College Volleyball won on Friday in an in-conference game against Randolph College. The Maroons won three of the four sets.
The Roanoke College starters were Jessica Block, Macey Tyree, Sarah Long, Brooke Bostwick, Allison White, Alexandra Martin, with libero Ryan Hedgpeth. Randolph College started Katherine Lesnak, Marissa McClinton, Kerry McMichael, Noelle Wojciechowski, Alex Mariona, Jordan Templin, and libero Lexi Harrington.
In the beginning of the first set, Randolph dominated. When Randolph was up 16-13, Roanoke took charge scoring six straight. Roanoke only allowed three more points in the first set, taking the first set 25-19.
Randolph started off strong again in the second set, and led for the majority of the set. The WildCats took that set 25-18.
In the third set, the Maroons showed what they were made of, only allowing Randolph 16 points.
The final set remained close the entire time. After a late timeout by Roanoke, with the WildCats up 22-21, the Maroons allowed one more point by Randolph then scored four straight to win the set.
The Maroons had fifty kills in the game. They were lead by Allison White with fifteen, Macey Tyree had ten, and Sarah Long and Kylah Blackmore each had nine. Allison White also led the team in digs with nineteen, followed by Macey Tyree and Christen Zammit with fifteen.
Randolph was the lead in kills by Jordan Templin with fifteen, who also lead the team in digs with twenty-two.
Roanoke improves to 12-3 on the season, and 1-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The WildCats now stand at 10-6 overall, 0-2 in the ODAC. The Maroons also played this weekend on Saturday in a “Pack the House” Game.
