With winter sports winding down, spring sports have gotten off to a fantastic start. Many of our spring teams have been pre-season ranked in the top 25 nationally for Division III. With baseball already underway and many other sports starting in the upcoming week, we figured it would be a good idea to preview the upcoming season.

Men’s lacrosse has recently been ranked #11 in the coaches’ preseason poll as well as being placed 3rd among ODAC teams, behind Washington &Lee and Lynchburg. The men’s team plays their first game of the season at St. Mary’s College this Sunday.

Women’s lacrosse has been placed 2nd in the ODAC preseason poll behind Washington & Lee. The women’s team went 11-7 last season and are looking to improve this year, starting on Saturday March 2nd against Stevenson University at home.

Baseball has started their season 1-2, winning against Ferrum College last Wednesday the 6th. The boys started the season 10th in ODAC preseason rankings and their next game is today, Friday the 15th at 4:00pm and 7:00pm at Kiwanis Field.

The softball team is off to the best preseason rankings for Roanoke College as they are ranked 2nd in ODAC preseason polls and 6th in all of Division III. They start their season this Tuesday, the 19th, at the Moyer Complex at 3:00pm against Greensboro College.

Women’s tennis is off to a great start placing 4th in ODAC preseason standings. Last year, the women’s team went 12-7 in addition to sending three ladies to all-conference teams.

Men’s tennis is also starting off next week; they are looking to improve on last year’s record of 4-12 starting this week. They are ranked 8th in ODAC polls this season and open their year against Ferrum College.

Men’s golf did well last fall and are hoping to improve during these upcoming spring tournaments. Their first tournament of the spring season is taking place in Alabama during the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals.

The track team is also looking to start off the season strong. Their first meet is going to be at home on the 16th of March. The Roanoke T&F Invitational is going to be held on the Alumni Field starting at 9am.

Good luck to all of our sports teams and their upcoming seasons. For more times and dates of upcoming home games, check out page 2’s sports box.
