Over the next week, SGA and the Student Life Council will be taking nominations for this year’s Leadership Awards. Leadership Awards range from the organizational level to the individual level in an attempt to seek out outstanding people on campus. Â These upcoming awards are for the time period of Spring Break 2012 to Spring Break 2013.
The first award is the Outstanding Organization of the Year; this is given to the nominated organization who most exemplifies the college’s mission through programs and service. In addition to following the college’s mission, they must promote personal and professional excellence and have a positive impact on the college campus.
Next is the Outstanding Officer of the Year; this is an individual award given to officers who demonstrate leadership within their organization. Not only did they lead the organization, but they strengthened it and made an impact on the members of the organization.
The Emerging Leader of the Year Award is given to an organization member who has contributed greatly since Spring Break 2013. This person doesn’t have to be an officer, meaning he/she can be anyone from a Freshman to a Senior who has stepped up recently.
The Advisor of the Year award is next, which involves nominated Faculty and Staff who had a significant impact on their advised organization. This award is not for academic advisors.
The final three awards involve programs and events put on by organizations. These falls into three categories: Educational, Service, and Social. All three of these go above and beyond in their fields, bringing students in and sending them away with improved awareness and skills.
The nomination forms can be found on the SGA RC Engage page under Forms. Nominations are due on April 1st by 4pm. There will be an awards banquet in Wortmann Ballroom on the 16th of April. All nominees are invited to the banquet where the winners will be unveiled.
