Pack the House Tailgate for women’s and men’s soccer was a blizzard of fans who covered the stadium in white on Tuesday night August 26th. Roanoke music veteran Cory Cambell and his three-man band provided the rock and roll pop jams for the evening. Cory Cambell recently moved to New York to continue his music career as an up-and-coming artist in the big city. If you liked his stuff you can find his new release on iTunes called “West of Anywhere” released the 19th. Follow him on twitter @corywcambell, Instagram: corycambell and check out his website www.corycambell.squarespace.com.

Two food trucks, Martin’s Downtown Bar and Grille and Bruno’s Gastro, had lines going from the soccer field entrance extending to the New Hall front entrance patio. Two minutes into the official start time of the event, the t-shirts were almost all given away. Wells Fargo sponsored the Maroons Tank Top giveaways.  Students who wore Maroon gear were given a $10 voucher for the food trucks, which covered a full meal. Students picnicked on the grass in front of New Hall watching the game while they chomped on their gourmet food-truck dinners.

The Gastro Truck had many cultural dishes including a Kimchi Dog with soy sauce, spicy cabbage and kettle chips, or a meal ofChicken Curry on rice with cilantro and peanuts. They flavored a great southern-style pulled pork sandwich sprinkled with slaw on a challah bun. An interesting side dish was a very meaty chili covered with cheese underneath a blanket of tater tots. Their social media sites will give you more info on where to locate the food truck and what events it will be attending. You can find them hanging out and serving up some good eats at Parkway and Floyd fest.

Martin’s Downtown Bar and Grille Truck had decadent tastes from the Bison Burger, Crab Cake Sandwich, Big Kahuna Taco with rare tuna, cabbage, pineapple, scallions and remoulade to the Cuban Pork Sandwich. Almost every night of the week Martin’s in downtown Roanoke has live music. Weekends are filled with bigger names that give your food a better experience. They also have great weekly specials such as half-price tacos and their notorious wing night. Saturday August 30th Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad will perform at the grille.

Rooney made an appearance to cheer on the girls as they led the game with a winning finish 9-0 against Mary Washington. The Men’s team kept the fans waiting to score until the second half with a finishing win of one – nothing.
