On Feb. 9 and 10, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Colket Center, the Writing Center staff helped students get ready for Valentine’s Day by making cards. They had numerous arts and crafts supplies and every kind of heart decoration imaginable. Despite the amount of glitter and rhinestones on the table, the Writing Center knows that the message is more important than a flashy card. To help give people ideas of what to write, they had a book of quotes to include in the cards.
In addition to a meaningful message, the Writing Center staff encouraged students to write cards to friends as well as romantic partners. Numerous people signed their cards, “Platonic Love” to show their affection to friends. Many also made cards for themselves to treat themselves to a little self-love on Valentine’s Day. Altogether, it was a fun way to get in the loving spirit of the holiday, regardless of what your plans may be for this Saturday.
