The night of March 31, Art Club hosted its first egg decorating event in Olin Hall. Although the turnout was not as sweeping as some of the club’s past events, everyone in attendance had heaps of fun.
There were a variety of items to decorate, such as hard boiled eggs, hollowed out egg shells, and chalkboard eggs. After choosing a type of egg to embellish, members could dip their eggs into an assortment of dyes, color them with crayons, or cover them in intricate chalk designs. Packets of stickers, pipe cleaners, craft felt, and googly eyes were also spread out for use. One of the egg decorating packets allowed for members to make their eggs into tiny monsters.
Tessa Pleban, an RC student, created arguably the cutest egg of the night by covering it in orange fur and bringing it to life with a cycloptic googly eye! In addition to this wild creation, others creative eggs were made such as a tiger, rabbit, and alien spaceship. While laughter filled the air and dye splattered about the tables, members settled down to a viewing of the movie Shrek.
As the school year quickly wraps up, the end of the semester banquet will be held on April 14 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.—so mark your calendars! The holy trinity of essentials will be provided—pizza, Netflix, and art supplies. Art Club is also currently in the process of planning a trip to the Taubman Museum and surrounding art galleries in downtown Roanoke. This event is tentatively set for April 18 from roughly 12:00-4:00 p.m.
Art Club’s exec-board is always open to getting feedback from the student body about events they would like to see happen, or collaborative projects with other groups on campus.
