The Colket Center was filled on Monday, Feb. 1 with employers and students looking to network and make helpful connections for potential internship and job opportunities.
Before the job fair Career Services, who sponsored the event, was buzzing with students. Also in attendance are members of the peer career advising team, who help the students update their resumes to present themselves in the best way to potential employers. During every job fair there is an opportunity to have a professional photo taken for either your LinkedIn profile, or any other professional usage.
The summer camp jobs and internship (rephrasing) fair brought 33 employers to campus looking for students to fill their open positions; an easy way to score an internship or summer position! Students are highly encouraged to attend these events in order to practice interview and appropriate mingling skills with employers.
The fair is set up around the lobby of the Colket Center as well as in the Pickle Lounge to allow each employer enough space around their booth. Students can pick and choose which employers they want to speak with and are encouraged to bring a resume or business card to give employers something tangible and memorable. There is nothing to be intimidated by because each organization or business is looking for candidates like Roanoke College students.
Take advantage of these fairs, as they are building blocks to landing the internship or job that you’ve always wanted! Not to mention the fair was from 4:30-6:00pm, which means it’s easy to come dressed to commons and then go to dinner right before or after.
